About this comparison

The mid-range mobile phone market is one of the most competitive in the world. This has led to a constant stream of new and exciting devices coming out, all with their own unique features. Two of the latest are the Poco F5 and the Realme GT Neo 5 SE. Both of these phones have been designed to provide users with a great experience at a reasonable price. Let's take a closer look at what each of them offers.

Starting with the Poco F5, it features an AMOLED display measuring 6.67-inches with a resolution of 1080x2400 (FHD+) and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Its peak brightness reaches up to 1000 cd/m2, and it also boasts a contrast ratio of 5000000:1 and HDR10+. Audio wise, the device comes equipped with stereo speakers, Hi-Res Audio, Dolby Atmos compatibility and a noise cancellation microphone. It is housed in polycarbonate, and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for added durability.

The Poco F5 comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 processor based on a 4nm technology and 8GB or 12GB of RAM, depending on the configuration, along with 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It scored 969903 in AnTuTu (v9). Security wise, it relies solely on a fingerprint scanner located to the side of the device. Lastly, the F5 has a 3725mm² super diffusion conduction VC vapor chamber for heat dissipation.

Photography fans won't be disappointed either as the Poco F5 features a triple rear camera setup comprising of an Omnivision OV64B 64.0Mpx sensor (f/1.79, pixel size 1.400) + Sony IMX355 8.0Mpx ultra-wide angle lens (f/2.2, pixel size 1.120) + GalaxyCore GC02M1 2.0Mpx macro lens (f/2.4). For selfies, it uses a Samsung S5K3P9 16.0Mpx sensor (f/2.45, pixel size 1.120). Other photography features include optical stabilization (OIS), 4K video recording, and macro pictures taken from up to 4 cm away.

Moving on to the Realme GT Neo 5 SE, we find a 6.74-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1240×2772 pixels and a refresh rate of 144 Hz, as well as a peak brightness of 1400 cd/m2 and a contrast ratio of 5000000:1. As for audio, the GT Neo 5 SE boasts stereo speakers and Dolby Atmos compatibility, but no Hi-Res Audio. Its main body is made of plastic, and it has an 87.5% usable surface area.

Under the hood, the Realme GT Neo 5 SE packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ processor (also based on a 4nm architecture), paired with 8GB, 12GB and 16GB RAM configurations, and 256GB, 512GB and 1TB UFS 3.1 storage options. It scored 1009127 in AnTuTu (v9). Security wise, it relies on an in-display fingerprint scanner for unlocking purposes. Heat dissipation is handled by a 4500 mm² VC tempered in 3D and a 6580mm² micro-nano-cavity graphene phase change.

On the imaging front, the GT Neo 5 SE flaunts a triple rear camera setup comprising of an Omnivision OV64M 64.0Mpx main sensor (f/1.79, CMOS) + Sony IMX355 8.0Mpx ultra-wide angle lens (f/2.2) + GalaxyCore GC02M2 2.0Mpx macro lens (f/3.3). For selfies, it uses a Samsung S5K3P9 16.0Mpx sensor (f/2.45). Other features of note include 4K video recording, 6-element lens, wide angle 5P lens 112° and a 3P macro lens that can capture subjects from up to 2 cm away.

In terms of connectivity, both phones support Dual SIM, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, WiFi 6 (802.11ax) and infrared. The Poco F5 has an audio jack included, while the Realme GT Neo 5 SE features GPS (L1+L5) instead. The Poco F5 has a slightly smaller 5,000mAh battery with 67W fast charging, while the GT Neo 5 SE is equipped with a larger 5,500mAh capacity cell with 100W charging speeds.

Overall, the Poco F5 and the Realme GT Neo 5 SE are two of the top contenders in the mid-range category. Both offer stunning displays, powerful hardware, great cameras, as well as plenty of modern features. In terms of which one to go for, it really depends on what you are looking for. Those who prioritize design and audio quality may find the Poco F5 a better option, while those after a more powerful performance should take a look at the Realme GT Neo 5 SE.
