As smartphone technology continues to evolve and become more advanced, many manufacturers have become increasingly competitive in their offerings. Samsung is no exception to this trend, releasing what is sure to be two of the most iconic mid-range smartphones of 2021 and 2022. The Samsung Galaxy A33 5G and Galaxy A52 are two devices that offer excellent features, with both offering great value for the money.

Design & Materials

The first thing you will notice about the Galaxy A33 5G is its 6.40-inch Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1080X2400 (FHD+) and a refresh rate of 90 Hz. It also has a brightness of 420 cd/m2 (typ) and a 1000000:1 contrast ratio. To ensure an immersive viewing experience, the device is outfitted with stereo speakers and Dolby Atmos audio. It has a plastic frame and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 to protect its display. The usable surface of the A33 5G is quite good at 83.3%.

The Galaxy A52 is a slightly larger device with a 6.50-inch Super AMOLED display. The resolution is the same as that of the A33 5G, however, the refresh rate and maximum brightness are higher, at 90Hz and 800 cd/m2 respectively. To make things even better, it also comes with AKG stereo speakers and Dolby Atmos and Dolby Digital Plus audio support. It also has a metal frame and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Its usable surface is very good at 84.5%.

Hardware

The Galaxy A33 5G runs on Samsung’s own Exynos 1280 processor, which is based on a 5nm architecture. It is available in two RAM and storage configurations: 6GB RAM/128GB storage and 8GB RAM/256GB storage. You can further expand the storage via the dedicated MicroSD card slot. Its AnTuTu score is 415448 and it offers a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner as a security feature.

On the other hand, the Galaxy A52 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 720G chipset, which is based on an 8nm architecture. It too comes in two RAM and storage variants, 6GB RAM/128GB storage and 8GB RAM/256GB storage. The UFS 2.1 storage allows for faster transfer speeds. Its AnTuTu score is 341212 and it also offers a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner for added safety.

Camera

The Galaxy A33 5G is equipped with a quad-camera setup that consists of a main 48MP (Sony IMX582 Exmor RS) sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and an 8MP (Sony IMX355) wide-angle sensor. Other components include a 2MP (GalaxyCore) depth sensor, a 5MP (GalaxyCore GC5035) macro sensor and a 13MP (Sony IMX258) front camera. It also supports 4K video capture and OIS (optical image stabilization).

The A52 has a similarly impressive quadruple-lens camera system, featuring a main 64MP (Sony IMX682 Exmor RS) sensor with an f/1.8 aperture. It also has a 12MP (f/2.2) ultra-wide lens and 5MP (f/2.4) sensors for macro and depth respectively. For selfies, it has a 32MP (Sony IMX616) front camera and a 123° ultra-wide-angle lens. It also supports 4K video capture and OIS (optical image stabilization).

Connectivity & Battery

Both devices come with Bluetooth 5.1, dual SIM slots and NFC support. The battery capacity of the Galaxy A33 5G is 5000mAh and it supports 25W fast charging. The A52 has a slightly smaller 4500mAh battery but it too supports 25W fast charging.

Conclusion

The Samsung Galaxy A33 5G and Galaxy A52 are two impressive mid-range devices that offer excellent performance and features. They have great displays with high refresh rates and plenty of RAM and storage to keep things running smoothly. In terms of cameras, they both have quad-lens systems with great specs and features. They also come with decent batteries and support fast charging. If you’re looking for a mid-range device with all the bells and whistles, these two are worth considering.
