  • Weak GPS and compass

This phone has 2 major weaknesses for my intended use (hiking in forests and mountains)

    1. GPS is imprecise, always adjusting position tens and even hundreds of meters. It takes at least 30 seconds AFTER FIX for GPS to stabilize. I checked real altitude with map, my previous calibrated altimeter watch Casio PRW-3100 and an external GPS logger Canmore GT-750F with Sirf IV chipset. Signal levels from satellites reported by various programs (in dBm) are lower than other phones eg. my old Galaxy S4 . This is especially bad in cities, it places you a few streets away.

    2. Compass needs calibration on every use, and even with this is not consistent - on a perfectly horizontal surface North as indicated by this compass depends on phone orientation - I keep the phone on the same spot on table and rotate it - and voila ! the North is now to my left as opposed to my right where it should be.

    Solid

Good battery, solid, waterproof. But the photo part is really zero, and the videos even worse, at a price there we find really better, we pay the very expensive Caterpillar logo, very average range smartphone.

What is a Ki score?
Ki is an automatic score based on the specifications and prices of devices. It is calculated using over 200 variables to rank smartphones, tablets and other devices from best to worst.
How do we calculate the Ki?

In this case, to determine the score we evaluate 5 general aspects:

  • Design and screen
  • Hardware and performance
  • Camera
  • Connectivity
  • Battery

Once these 5 factors have been rated, we introduce the price variable. This means that any two devices with the same ratings get a different Ki score for quality vs price.

Even a device objectively worse than another may have a higher Ki score if it has a better price.

Does the Ki score change?

The Ki varies as time goes by. As new devices with better specifications enter the market the Ki score of older devices will go down, always being compensated of their decrease in price.
