  • Latest Android (so far) on a budget

Got it less than 24 hours ago and I've been using for the entire day now. Lightweight, narrow bezels, latest Android...so far, average battery performance and endurance that last a day of moderate usage, tri-slot: dual sim+microSD, good price point. I'm no mobile gamer but I think it'll just do OK for mobile casual games but not resource intensive ones. Both cameras are decent under good lighting though definitely not for low light. There's a noticeable and annoying lag in both cameras in live view processing. Some GUIs overlays are also not optimized, some apps have cropped notification bars instead of scaling with the display, either it could be a problem with the apps themselves or the system itself. It seems to kill, freeze or don't update some of my fitness tracking apps in the background. No fingerprint sensor but face unlock works 90% of the time, even in low light as advertised. Average sound performance on speakers but good signals reception on mobile, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS.

    Pros
    • Latest Android Pie on budget
    • Fast face unlock works even in low light
    • Lightweight & narrow bezels
    • Decent cameras in good lighting
    Cons
    • Even with 3GB RAM, it freezes/kills my background apps
    • Some GUI bugs, but could be the apps themselves
    • No fingerprint sensor
    • No IP/display protection
    • 7.1

    • Performance6.3
    • Camera7.3

Score

What is a Ki score?
Ki is an automatic score based on the specifications and prices of devices. It is calculated using over 200 variables to rank smartphones, tablets and other devices from best to worst.
How do we calculate the Ki?

In this case, to determine the score we evaluate 5 general aspects:

  • Design and screen
  • Hardware and performance
  • Camera
  • Connectivity
  • Battery

Once these 5 factors have been rated, we introduce the price variable. This means that any two devices with the same ratings get a different Ki score for quality vs price.

Even a device objectively worse than another may have a higher Ki score if it has a better price.

Does the Ki score change?

The Ki varies as time goes by. As new devices with better specifications enter the market the Ki score of older devices will go down, always being compensated of their decrease in price.
