- Still runs great on the latest version of OneUI that it supports
I got the S9 as a gift from somebody and from the week I've used it, It's an AMAZING phone for the price. First of all, the AMOLED screen is really nice and colors are nice and accurate, and supports a pretty high resolution. Even on the latest version of software the hardware supports (OneUI 2.5), it's pretty snappy and performs well even though its not a community build. The camera is MILES better than the (at the time competitor) iPhone X/8, and can still put out nice details in low light situations/rooms (Like rooms with LED's), and in proper light, the camera is sharp and can capture small details, and is comparable to the (First) Google Pixel. 64GB is plenty enough storage for me, and it's nice and fast. USB-3 support through the USB-C port made data transfer a breeze, and sense Smart Switch can properly support iPhone, my music and photos and all of my text messages went through no problem and took (not even) around 5 minutes. The headphone jack is tuned by AKG and sounds really good, even in headphones that don't really sound that good (Like budget Sony headphones), and Dolby Atmos supports makes proper headphones with Dolby support sound great, and sounds pretty good out of the built in speakers. The only problems I've had with this phone is that it uses 3G to make phone calls, and isn't supported by my primary carrier, so I had to purchase a budget prepaid plan to test call quality. With that out of the way, VoLTE calls sound great but I the earpiece was a bit too loud for me. Also, the Iris scanner is a fun gimmick and I had a nice time with it (when it would work), but I wear glasses so the scanner had a pretty hard time scanning my eyes and I just found myself disabling it all together. The Face Unlock doesn't work great either, so I just settled for the Fingerprint scanner which works great for me. Last thing I found myself using more than I thought I would was PayPal integration, so I could use vending machines with my PayPal balance.
