Just bought a P6 used on eBay to test for myself what all the complaints I keep reading on Reddit are all about.
Here's my experience, so far, in first few days:
It's a nice phone for non gamers. For those of us who live in a practical world this phone will do everything you ask of it and keep doing it long without battery phobia. I have become tired of higher end SOCs sucking juice and Chinese solutions with just 2 android updates. Trying custom ROMs just gave battery drain issues. Samsung, although not my fave with One UI, provided a solution to all these issues at a great price and has won my $. First phone I've had with 'face stay awake' since Honor View 20. The tears of previous phone issues have been more than compensated for by the tear drop of the A34 but the poor FPS and slow face unlock have started to bug me and the UI can be very laggy at times despite a reasonably high Antutu.
Probably the smoothest fastest phone I've ever had at the best ridiculously cheap price of £240 open box eBay. Getting 10 hrs SOT (per Accubattery). Only downsidea are small number software updates and perhaps low light photos, but almost irrelevant for me. 6 months later still loving it with no change in my comments 'Love at first swipe' ;)
Begonia Pixel Experience(PE) Android 13 works a treat on this phone and has extended the life of the phone beyond Xiaomi's miserable 2 major updates up to MIUi 12.5/Android 11, so now to Android 14 and beyond. Stock PE camera works fine but does not give access to rear wide angle cam. Installing GCam from APK does however work fine with wide angle although takes a bit of work to find the right combo of APK/config file. Passes the SafetyNet app test and so GPay and banking work 'out of the box', Play Store is certified and widevine L1 is present giving proper resolution in Netflix.
All in all an A1 buy, used, and ROMd up and although it is now 4 years old still works like a new phone with Pixel Experience 13 and still shows 9hrs of SOT per accubattery. The best phone I've bought ever, period, for stupid cheap money.
Best bang for buck under £200 even in 2022
This phone is like having keys to a new apartment, but the keys don't fit the lock and you can't get in properly. It's a fantastic place, but worthless unless you can get in every time. Looks like the P7 resolves the issues so hold out for the P7a
Nice design, build, awesome 4k curved screen, but.....5.5 hrs battery if lucky, so so cams, and no face unlock or raise to wake. Changed to an Honor View 20. An awesomely better phone for all these points. Unless you're a Sony fanboy and/or get it cheap used, you might wanna consider other options, which are likely more cost effective.
My previous phone was an Honour View 20. That phone wazzes all over the Moto in terms of build quality and speed of UI. However, I like the easier one handedness and movie experience of 21:9 stretched screen ratio and after bad Xperia experiences this phone is waaay better than cheaper 21:9 Sonys. I paid £157 unmarked little used eBAY in original box etc and for this £ it's a deal all day long. Also liking the 7.5 HR SOT per GSAM app. Battery last over a day for heavyish non gaming use. The screen is however a little 'dull'/lacking vividness and very occasionally there are curious screen lags. Bad news is it doesn't seem to be getting Android 12, so yeh, Moto software attention sadly lacking
