X820 4/32 Silver running Slim7 Rom with Google Camera 5 apk and gapps micro. Attracted by the flagship spec and price!?
(PROS) Not disappointed, I am in love! Its really stylish, well built and feels real solid. The screen is to die for! Don't be put off by the bezel you don't notice it after 10 mins. It packs a serious CPU too and leaves my Apollo Lite in its dust! It works great with VR. The camera is sharp, fast and takes a decent low light shot with a steady hand. It has Qualcomm QC3!
(CONS) Battery is a little small for this spec of phone, running Slim7 Nougat Rom helps me achieve 5 hours of screen time and that's putting out a 142K antutu score, not bad at all!. The fingerprint sensor simply disappeared after a day of use, it won't come back but that's a well documented issue with a lot of the x820 phones, if you don't mind not having the FP sensor its not an issue.
Great Phone with a Custom Rom! Search "Le Max 2" or "Slim7 Le Max 2" on XDADevelopers site. Huge Support there
I like the look and feel of my Vernee Apollo Lite its sleek, os is vanilla and it has a lot of power but its at a big cost unfortunately. It has had a lot of problems getting to a usable state. Cell, 3G network and camera problems out of the box. After 3 OTA updates they have been resolved but replaced with chronic battery drain from an unknown internal service and the camera is still rubbish! The battery drain 'Wake Lock' sucks up 40% of the battery in a 24hr period. I have emailed Vernee numerous times, posted to their blog, posted to their FB and I have to say their customer service is deplorable. My recommendation is save your money and stay well away from vernee. A year on I've struggled on, I replaced the vernee os with mad os which brought things up to date but alas the camera is still the worst I've ever had. I would compare it to the Samsung nexus 2 camera from 2010 really I can't express how awful it is. Quick charge only works with MTK charger as well, stick with snapdragon.
The Thor is an example of a very good balance of phone hardware and powerful at that. For the money its a capable 8 core phone with tons of Ram and storage. Sharp screen and ambient light sensor. It feels slender and small in the hand with baby skin back. Its more than enough for everyday use and the 2800mAh battery will get over a day with moderate use. The camera for me is the real surprise, its an unbranded 13mp sensor but it can take some nice photos, super sharp, quick focus and work reasonably well in low light. For me it is comparable to my old Jiayu S3 plus Sony IMX214 camera. I really cant think of anything bad to say about this phone. Maybe to push the battery over 3000mAh's in future models would be good. As with other Vernee models the vanilla OS could be more refined with less memory leaks but all in all very happy with it.
Good simple design, nice grip diamond back feature and premium look and weight, removable battery and dual sim. OS is customized but free from resource leaks. Its a well optimized OS. Storage and performance are above average for a handset of this price. If you were to believe the hype this phone 'is all about the camera' well it isn't! Theres been a few OTA updates to improve response of the camera, in good daylight its a fine sony sensor, any low light at all it has problems, all in all its above average for its price range and competitors. With moderate use the battery surprised me, you'll get 1 - 2 days. I'm happy with it.
