The first month was pretty rough. Blackview's 'system manager' app would kill _all_ recent apps after screen lock, regardless of how they were configured to stay in memory. Then, Blackview had left Mediatek Duraspeed kernel module enabled but without a way to disable it in UI, therefore having all background apps killed after 30 minutes of idle time and notifications broken. This also meant VoLTE calls wouldn't connect and divert to voicemail, too.
Blackview have since rolled out fixes for these issues, and the phone is now a performant champ. Calls connect quickly and are clear with VoLTE. Bluetooth and WiFi work well. Background apps sync perfectly, and you can have tens of apps open simultaneously without them killed off. Notifications come through qulckly, even for stubborn apps like doorbells and such.
Sound is pretty good, and can be enhanced with apps (eg Wavelet) to make the speaker sound full. Camera is better than expected for the pricepoint, and has the same ISP as other 6nm Mediatek devices (eg Dimensity 1080). Of course, photos aren't going to be flagship quality, but they're perfectly usable.
Following the updates, the usability, experience and in-hand feel have been impeccable.
Disappointing experience. Do not buy, and if your order has not been dispatched yet, cancel and order the Umidigi F1 instead.
After waiting two months longer than expected from the delayed preorder process, the phone isn't worth it. It's thick, bulky and heavy. It's very slippery, especially with wet/greasy/sweaty hands. The front, back, and sides are glass so will shatter if dropped.
The fingerprint reader doesn't work properly. During setup process, if you connect to the Internet, you're not able to add a fingerprint. You need to add a fingerprint BEFORE inserting a SIM or connecting to WiFi, and unfortunately you cannot add any more after connecting to the Internet due to a loop bug.
The speaker is mediocre, not very loud or bassy. The camera cutout in the screen is much bigger than advertised and looks out of place. There's lots of shadowing around the cutout and bottom of the screen.
I could go on. Basically, don't waste your money.
Great performance from the Helio P60 chip. Plenty of RAM, and with Mediatek's DuraSpeed (in Settings) even more performance can be brought forward by limiting unnecessary background apps. The rear camera, until recent update, was mediocre - however with the new camera app in the last update, camera performance is impressive. Even in low light, the camera manages some good exposure and colours. Speaker is loud and clear, perhaps a little on the harsh side at full volume but no complaints overall. Dual SIM works great, cell coverage is as expected and good LTE throughput. WiFi on 2.4G... BAD berformance with high latency (laggy) but 5G works perfectly.
