About this comparison

The Mid-Range Smartphone Scene is Hotting Up: Realme C55 and Tecno Spark 10 Pro Go Head to Head

The mid-range smartphone market has been gaining momentum over the last few years with a range of devices offering fantastic specs, but at a fraction of the cost of their flagship counterparts. With that in mind, two of the latest mid-range offerings, the realme C55 and Tecno Spark 10 Pro, look set to go head to head, so let’s take a closer look at each device to find out what they have to offer.

Design & Materials

Starting with design, both phones feature a modern design which is typical of current mid-range devices. The realme C55 features a 6.72-inch LCD IPS screen, with a 1080x2400 (FHD+) resolution and a refresh rate of 90Hz. It also boasts an impressive 85.5% usable surface ratio for maximum viewing pleasure. As for materials, it is constructed from plastic, keeping its overall footprint relatively low.

The Tecno Spark 10 Pro features a slightly larger 6.80-inch LCD IPS screen, with a slightly lower 1080x2460 (FHD+) resolution and the same 90Hz refresh rate as its rival. Its usable surface ratio is also lower, at 85.1%, but its construction materials boast an extra layer of glass for added durability.

Hardware

Inside the realme C55 sits a MediaTek Helio G88 (12nm) processor, coupled with either 4GB, 6GB or 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM depending on the configuration you choose. Storage-wise, you can choose between either 64GB, 128GB or 256GB, and if you need more there’s also an external storage option. Its AnTuTu v9 score comes in at 273364, which is more than decent for its price point. On top of all that, there’s also a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for added security.

The Tecno Spark 10 Pro also runs on a MediaTek Helio G88 processor, although the RAM is retained at 8GB regardless of configuration. You can choose between either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage, plus there’s also the external storage option. Its AnTuTu v9 score of 235000 is slightly lower than its rival, but still respectable for the price. There’s also a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for added security.

Camera

In terms of camera performance, the realme C55 features a dual camera system. Its primary lens packs a 64.0Mpx Omnivision OV64B CMOS sensor, while its depth lens is a GalaxyCore GC02M1 with a 2.0Mpx aperture of f/2.4. For selfies, there’s an 8.0Mpx CMOS sensor with an f/2.0 aperture.

The Tecno Spark 10 Pro, meanwhile, offers a triple camera system. Its primary lens is a 50.0Mpx CMOS sensor, alongside a 2.0Mpx depth lens with an f/2.4 aperture and a 0.3Mpx standard lens with an f/1.9 aperture. For selfies, there’s a 32.0Mpx CMOS sensor.

Connectivity & Battery

In terms of connectivity, both smartphones have Bluetooth 5.2, Dual SIM, NFC and Audio Jack ports. The realme C55 has a bigger battery, at 5000mAh, and also offers faster charging speeds thanks to its 33.0W fast charge. The Tecno Spark 10 Pro has the same capacity battery, but its fast charge is slower at 18.0W.

Conclusion

Overall, both the realme C55 and Tecno Spark 10 Pro offer plenty of features and competitive performance for their respective price points. The realme C55 offers a slightly better AnTuTu v9 score, while the Tecno Spark 10 Pro has the edge in terms of camera performance. Whichever one you choose, you can be sure that you’ll get a solid mid-range smartphone that won’t break the bank.
