About this comparison

Comparing Samsung Galaxy A14 5G and A24: The Latest mid-range Smartphones from Samsung The year 2023 is set to be an exciting one in the world of technology, and in particular for those fans of the South Korean technology giant Samsung. For it is this year that Samsung has unveiled their two latest mid-range smartphones – the Samsung Galaxy A14 5G and A24. Let us take a closer look at these two models and define the differences between them.

Design & Materials Both phones have a plastic body with a front display screen to maximise functionality and usability. The Galaxy A14 5G has a 6.60 inch TFT LCD IPS screen with a resolution of 1080x2400 (FHD+) and a refresh rate of 90 Hz. Meanwhile, the Galaxy A24 has a slightly bigger 6.50 inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1080x2340 (FHD+) and a peak brightness of 1000 cd/m². While both phones have a usable surface area of around 80%, the A24’s is slightly higher at 81.1%.

Hardware When it comes to hardware, the A14 5G has Samsung’s Exynos 1330 processor (on a 5nm node) and can be configured with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM plus 64GB or 128GB of internal storage space. The A24 is powered by MediaTek’s Helio G99 processor (on a 6nm node) and offers up 6GB, 8GB or 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. As expected, both phones support external storage via microSD card.

In terms of benchmarks, the A14 5G scores 412200 on AnTuTu v9 while the A24 scores 370000. Both phones also come with a fingerprint scanner on the side for added security.

Camera When it comes to cameras, both phones are equipped with a triple lens system. The A14 5G has a 50.0Mpx standard lens, f/1.8 ISOCELL sensor, a 2.0Mpx macro lens and a depth sensor while the A24 has a 50.0Mpx standard lens, f/1.8 CMOS BSI sensor, a 5.0Mpx wide angle lens and a 2.0Mpx macro lens. Both phones include a 13.0Mpx front facing camera, although the A14 5G’s f/2.0 CMOS sensor is more powerful than the A24’s f/2.2 CMOS sensor.

The A14 5G has the edge in terms of video quality, being able to record in 4K while the A24 can only record in 1080p. The A24 does, however, have Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS).

Connectivity & Battery In terms of connectivity, both phones offer Bluetooth 5.2 (5.3 for A24) and dual SIM support. The A14 5G has NFC and an audio jack while the A24 also has these features plus reverse wireless charging.

The battery capacities are the same on both phones – 5000mAh. However, the A14 5G supports fast charging at 15.0W while the A24 supports 25.0W fast charging.

Overall, both phones offer excellent performance at a great price point. The A14 5G has better video recording capabilities and security features while the A24 has a larger display and even faster charging speeds. Ultimately, the choice will come down to personal preference but regardless, both phones are sure to be popular in the mid-range market.
