Introducing Two of Xiaomi's Smartphones

Xiaomi is a well-known Chinese smartphone manufacturer, and they have an extensive lineup of offerings at various price points. In this article, we look at two of their devices that were released in 2020 and 2021 respectively: the Xiaomi 13 and the Xiaomi 13T. Both are high-end and mid-range phones with plenty of features to offer.

The first device we'll take a look at is the Xiaomi 13. It was released in December 2022 and is a high-end phone with impressive specifications. The device has a 6.36-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1080x2400 (FHD+) and a 120 Hz refresh rate. It also has a maximum brightness of 1000 cd/m² and supports HDR10+. On the design side, the Xiaomi 13 features an aluminium alloy body with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection and faux leather on the back. The usable surface of the device is 88.9% and it weighs in at 185 grams. There is also a plain leather version available that is 8.1mm thick.

In terms of hardware, the device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen2 processor, making it extremely powerful. On the camera side, the Xiaomi 13 has a triple camera setup with a 54.0Mpx standard Sony IMX800 camera, a 13.0Mpx wide-angle lens (Omnivision OV13B10), and a 10.0Mpx telephoto lens (Samsung S5K3K1). There is also an Omnivision OV32C 32.0Mpx selfie camera. Other features include optical stabilization (OIS), 4K and 8K video recording, Leica professional optical lens, a 3.2X optical zoom, and support for 4K60fps and 8K24fps.

Next up we have the Xiaomi 13T, which was released in September 2023. This device is a mid-range offering from Xiaomi and it still offers impressive specs and features. It has a 6.67-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1220x2712 (QHD) and a 144 Hz refresh rate, as well as a maximum brightness of 1200 cd/m² and a contrast ratio of 5000000:1 with HDR10+ support. It has stereo speakers and Hi-Res Audio with Dolby Atmos support just like the Xiaomi 13.

The design of the Xiaomi 13T is quite different from its predecessor though. It is made from plastic rather than aluminium alloy, and it has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The usability rate is 87.1%, and the device weighs in at 193 grams with the PU version.

Under the hood, the device is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8200 Ultra processor and there is up to 8GB or 12GB of RAM (LPDDR5X) and 256GB of UFS Storage 3.1. The Xiaomi 13T has a benchmark score of 864880 on AnTuTu v10. Just like the Xiaomi 13, there is also a fingerprint display for security.

In terms of cameras, the Xiaomi 13T has a triple camera setup with a 50.0Mpx main camera (Sony IMX707), a 50.0Mpx telephoto plus portrait lens (Omnivision OV50D40), and a 12.0Mpx ultra-wide angle lens (CMOS). There is also a 20.0Mpx selfie camera (Sony IMX596) and other features include optical stabilization (OIS), 4K video recording, 7P lens, ultra wide-angle lens 119º, depth lens 2x zoom, 20x digital zoom, and a 5P lens on the front camera.

For connectivity, the Xiaomi 13T has Bluetooth 5.4, dual SIM slots, NFC, WiFi 6 (802.11ax), GPS (L1+L5), infrared, and an eSIM. It also has a 5000mAh battery with 67.0W fast charging support.
