  • Overall Bad experience - eSIM functionality and sensors are disastrous

If you're buying this phone for the eSIM functionality - don't.

    eSIM:
This phone comes with android 12, but the eSIM management software is some proprietary doogee software. After downloading more than one eSIM (if you somehow managed to even download a first one, because most aren't supported, ex. Airalo), the phone goes into a restart+reset bootloop. The phone keeps switching between the eSIMs, and the phone will restart with a "factory reset" message. Once the phone has booted up, within 30-60 seconds it will crash and restart again and keep doing that until and if you manage to disable eSIM functionality. Its impossible to delete any eSIM off of it. None of the normal options work (via eSIM menu, via android settings, via factory reset) and Doogee plainly said to send the phone in for replacement as they weren't able to offer a solution after 4 months of emailing with them, providing videos and having tried virtually everything.

    Sensors:
    - The fingerprint sensor completely died after <6 months of use. While it worked, it would often unlocked with fingers not added...
    - The proximity sensor has been malfunctioning since day 1.
    - The ambient light sensor as well as all gyro/accelerometer sensors etc, only work randomly. If you open an app that reads the sensors values, they will only update randomly once every couple minutes and then work for ~10-20 seconds. This means, even if you have auto-rotate on, your screen won't rotate at all until your sensors actually decide to turn on.

    Camera:
    - The white balance of the camera is very bad - most pictures come out with very bad colors due to that. Only using Pro mode and changing the WB manually allows for OK pictures.
    - Any picture which is taken when there isn't full daylight turn out crap - you get vertical lines, unbalanced colors and lots of noise.

    GPS:
The advertisement is all crap - the GPS on this phone under-performs, is inaccurate and jumps all over the place.

  • Very impressed with general performance and really happy with the battery, sensors and main camera.

I bought the phone for work purposes. I was interested chiefly on camera, dual GPS, resistance y performance. I was about six months searching a phone that convinced me. Finally I opted for the Doogee V30 due to impressive price-quality relationship. In my personal opinion: The main camera is amazing; the nigh vision has less range than expected, but has a great quality to take close night pictures; the dual GPS is suppressively precise; I use the phone along three days with the GPS always on (however, I don't play games neither use any social networks); the phone works flawlessly and smoothly; I use a lot the custom button and I find it very useful; my phone has a small factory defect a non-functional pixel) for which I am trying to recover some money instead of using the warranty; the shocks are easily marked on the leather of the back, for me this is not a problem, because I use the phone in the field and the falls are inevitable, I prefer to see war marks rather than break my phone, but for other people is something to consider. Finally, I would like to receive an update to Android 13 soon.

Conclusión: I have experience in rugged phone for daily and working life, and I believe this phone, together with its variants (Doogee Vmax and Doogee S100), are currently the best price-quality option.

Doubt: Only I can't not sure about the phone durability, something that we never know until some years have passed. I expect this phone to last me more than four years and that Doogee's planned obsolescence policy is more coherent than other brands. It is my first Doogee's rugged phone, and I know nothing about Doogee's phones durability. Does anyone have experience with other Doogee's phones and know about their durability?

Obviously is heavier comparatively with my previous device Umidigi Bison. However, it doesn't matter because of the fast charging and the long-term autonomy of the battery. And indeed the GPS locates the satellite very fast. Also, Greece carriers don't support WiFi Calling. And most important the fingerprint sensor is almost faulty.

    I am satisfied

It's been 2 months since I created the first negative review about this phone. I changed my opinion. Because you can not restore a new phone from a backup of an old phone, because of this there were all the problems. Now I do not like in this phone that he is typing letters with the keyboard during a conversation. Even if I keep my phone away. the keyboard is Russian or English, he still types the letter u and he can type up to 15 such letters, with vibration disabled on the phone. Also, the light sensor on the screen works with an annoying delay. Batteries began to suffice for 20 hours of continuous YouTube. At high volume. Connected esim. I hope that the search systems of the program and in the settings will change places as it should be

What is a Ki score?
Ki is an automatic score based on the specifications and prices of devices. It is calculated using over 200 variables to rank smartphones, tablets and other devices from best to worst.
How do we calculate the Ki?

In this case, to determine the score we evaluate 5 general aspects:

  • Design and screen
  • Hardware and performance
  • Camera
  • Connectivity
  • Battery

Once these 5 factors have been rated, we introduce the price variable. This means that any two devices with the same ratings get a different Ki score for quality vs price.

Even a device objectively worse than another may have a higher Ki score if it has a better price.

Does the Ki score change?

The Ki varies as time goes by. As new devices with better specifications enter the market the Ki score of older devices will go down, always being compensated of their decrease in price.
