- Xiaomi 15 Ultra after 2 months: premium hardware held back by unstable software, poor battery life, and underwhelming performance
I've been using the Xiaomi 15 Ultra for two months, and I chose it mainly for its cameras and premium-looking design. While it does deliver in certain areas, overall, the experience has been more frustrating than satisfying.
Design & Build Quality:
The phone feels solid and high-quality, but it’s bulky and quite heavy – definitely not the most ergonomic device.
Display:
The screen looks great in terms of colors and brightness, but the refresh rate often feels like 60Hz, even though it should be much smoother. It doesn’t deliver the fluid experience you’d expect from a flagship.
Performance:
Performance is surprisingly poor. It lags and freezes even in basic apps, and in more demanding ones, it gets worse. It doesn’t match the hype or its flagship price tag.
Camera:
Cameras are decent, with the main sensor and zoom standing out. However, portrait modes are underwhelming, the ultra-wide camera is disappointing, and the AI often ruins shots instead of improving them. Video recording is average at best.
Battery & Charging:
Battery life is bad – it barely lasts a normal day and often needs charging in the middle of the day. While fast charging works well, the phone heats up significantly during charging.
Software (HyperOS):
This is by far the weakest point. HyperOS is unstable, lacks proper support, and doesn't receive regular updates. Critical bugs remain unresolved, like broken NFC and wallet apps, frequent crashes or freezes, and no built-in way to report issues or contact support. Even simple features like a proper notification history are missing.
Would I recommend it?
Honestly, not really. Unless Xiaomi seriously improves the software side, this phone feels unfinished and not worthy of its flagship status.Pros- Main camera and zoom lens
- Premium build quality
Cons- Buggy and unreliable software
- Poor battery life
- Subpar performance
- Inconsistent display refresh rate
- Lack of software updates and support

I think it's a best phone this time in a market I used OnePlus 13, Samsung s25, honor magic 7 pro and Nubia z70 ultra. I found that phone batter all of them. Very nice and sleek design with premium leather back. Camera is like DSLR speacialy in day time. After along time I found a phone with 920 slow motion. Over all only draw back is no head phone jack.
Pros- Camera like DSLR never heats up super fast
Cons- No headphone jack

Score
- 9.3 Design & Materials
- 8.8 Performance & Hardware
- 9.2 Camera
- 9.2 Connectivity
- 7.5 Battery
In this case, to determine the score we evaluate 5 general aspects:
- Design and screen
- Hardware and performance
- Camera
- Connectivity
- Battery
Once these 5 factors have been rated, we introduce the price variable. This means that any two devices with the same ratings get a different Ki score for quality vs price.
Even a device objectively worse than another may have a higher Ki score if it has a better price.
The Ki varies as time goes by. As new devices with better specifications enter the market the Ki score of older devices will go down, always being compensated of their decrease in price.
