  • Good phone with lack of support from ZTE

I buyed this phone for 83$ on jd.com. For it's price the smartphone has very good hardware: Snapdragon 801 (Galaxy S5 has also 801 but in different revision), 2GB RAM, 5,5' FullHD gorilla glass 3 display, 3100 battery, 3 microphones, support for FDD LTE (1800, 2100, 2600). Unfortunately the only official Android is 4.3. On XDA forum there are ported Android 5.1 as CM12.1 - it performs much better than official 4.3 (antutu score on this CM12.1 is 49.987) . On mentioned forum there are also root tools and custom recovery for this phone for experienced users. The camera is 13MP it makes good photos and movies only in good light conditions. In poor light conditions framerate of videos drops to approx. 15 fps. There are large community on chinese forum (but I'm not sure if they have the same version, there are 2 versions of this phone, you can distinguish it by position of rear camera - LTE S291 version has camera in top center). There are also quite big community on russian 4pda

    Pros
    • Powerful Snapdragon 801 with 2GB RAM
    • 5,5' FullHD display
    • Good price (approx. 80-90$ in promotions)
    Cons
    • Lack of support from ZTE
    • Only official Android 4.3
    • Quality of rear cover is low
    • Low framerate of videos in low light conditions

    • Camera7.5
    • Connectivity9.0
    • Battery10

    Strong middling

I am satisfied with the phone, I am satisfied, in general. The camera could only be better.

What is a Ki score?
Ki is an automatic score based on the specifications and prices of devices. It is calculated using over 200 variables to rank smartphones, tablets and other devices from best to worst.
How do we calculate the Ki?

In this case, to determine the score we evaluate 5 general aspects:

  • Design and screen
  • Hardware and performance
  • Camera
  • Connectivity
  • Battery

Once these 5 factors have been rated, we introduce the price variable. This means that any two devices with the same ratings get a different Ki score for quality vs price.

Even a device objectively worse than another may have a higher Ki score if it has a better price.

Does the Ki score change?

The Ki varies as time goes by. As new devices with better specifications enter the market the Ki score of older devices will go down, always being compensated of their decrease in price.
