The Samsung Galaxy A71, released in December 2019, is a mid-range smartphone that boasts impressive features and functionality. With a sleek design and top-notch hardware, the Galaxy A71 offers a high-quality user experience at an affordable price point.

Design & Materials: The Samsung Galaxy A71 features a stunning 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080x2400 (FHD+). The screen offers vibrant colors and sharp details, providing an immersive viewing experience for users. The phone is made of plastic, which may not feel as premium as metal or glass, but it helps keep the device lightweight and comfortable to hold. With a usable surface of 86.7%, the Galaxy A71 maximizes screen real estate for an expansive viewing area.

Hardware: Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 processor, the Samsung Galaxy A71 delivers smooth performance for everyday tasks and multitasking. With options for 6GB or 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and either 64GB or 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage, users can enjoy fast and reliable performance without worrying about lag or storage limitations. The device also supports external storage via microSD card for additional space. In terms of benchmark performance, the Galaxy A71 scores an impressive 355186 on AnTuTu (v10). For security, the device features a fingerprint display unlock method for quick and secure access to the phone.

Camera: One of the standout features of the Samsung Galaxy A71 is its quadruple camera setup, which includes a variety of lenses for versatile photography options. The main camera is a 64.0MP Samsung Bright S5KGW1 sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, delivering excellent photo quality with sharp details and vibrant colors. The wide-angle lens offers a 12.0MP sensor with an f/2.2 aperture, perfect for capturing landscapes and group shots. The portrait mode includes a 5.0MP depth sensor for stunning bokeh effects, while the macro lens allows for up-close photography with a 5.0MP sensor. For selfies, the Galaxy A71 features a 32.0MP front-facing camera with an f/2.2 aperture, delivering crisp and clear self-portraits. Additionally, the device supports 4K video recording and features a pixel size of 1.6 μm for enhanced low-light performance.

Connectivity: In terms of connectivity, the Samsung Galaxy A71 offers Bluetooth 5.0, Dual SIM support, NFC, and an audio jack for versatile use with various devices and accessories. With these features, users can easily connect to other devices, make mobile payments, and enjoy high-quality audio through wired headphones.

Battery: Equipped with a sizable 4500mAh battery, the Samsung Galaxy A71 provides all-day usage without the need for frequent recharging. The device supports fast charging technology with a 25.0W charger, allowing users to quickly replenish their battery when needed. This feature is particularly useful for busy individuals who rely on their smartphones throughout the day.

Summary: The Samsung Galaxy A71 offers numerous advantages, including its high-quality display, fast charging capabilities, and NFC support for convenient mobile payments. However, there are some drawbacks to consider, such as the lack of water and dust protection, the performance of the selfie camera in certain lighting conditions, the reliability of the fingerprint unlock feature, and the quality of night photos. Overall, the Galaxy A71 is a solid mid-range smartphone with a range of impressive features that cater to a variety of user needs.

What is a Ki score?
Ki is an automatic score based on the specifications and prices of devices. It is calculated using over 200 variables to rank smartphones, tablets and other devices from best to worst.
How do we calculate the Ki?

In this case, to determine the score we evaluate 5 general aspects:

  • Design and screen
  • Hardware and performance
  • Camera
  • Connectivity
  • Battery

Once these 5 factors have been rated, we introduce the price variable. This means that any two devices with the same ratings get a different Ki score for quality vs price.

Even a device objectively worse than another may have a higher Ki score if it has a better price.

Does the Ki score change?

The Ki varies as time goes by. As new devices with better specifications enter the market the Ki score of older devices will go down, always being compensated of their decrease in price.
