  • Good and cheap phone, but slooow.

Good phone, but full plastic, feels VERY cheap, unlike my previous Galaxy A9, that felt more premium. But it's at least easier. GPS is not too good in a crowded city. The best part is display, good in direct sunlight, vivid colors, good 90Hz is for playing. And the battery is also good, more than a day. From my 1st smartphone i bought in 2011 this is the first, that can survive a day. Fast charging also a good help.
Camera is average, like a Xiaomi one.
    Software updates regularly come.
    No JACK - that's a minus.
The biggest problem is speed - my Galaxy A9 got 140.000 points in Antutu, and the A33 got 280.000, but still it is waaaay slower in multitasking. Needs to wait seconds between taps! It's just unacceptable, mostly cause their price is similar AND it's 3 years newer.

  • Best Phone At Its Price

When the first time im holding the A33, It feels like a brick, considering it just made out of plastics. From all the plastic phone I ever tried, I feel this one can handle the most torture on its lifespan.
The screen is perfect, good brightness, and a good color. But the thicker bezel at the top is kinda annoying when at the first, but you will get used to it later.
The most interesting thing on this device is the camera quality, It got stabilization and 40Mp stuff, it can capture 4k, and slowmotion too. On this price point, prob it has the best camera quality. Taking pictures in the daylight is just perfection, night photos also great. But when it comes to video recording, on rare occasion. The video looks like it is over sharpened and processed too much, but mostly its doin its job really good. Except the ultrawide, the ultrawide is good for photos, but its acceptable for videos.
The speakers is amazing, great soundstage, great detail, its just need a little bit of tweak on the low end. But overall its good.
Battery life is reliable, I mean the chipset is really power efficient, those combination makes this thing got a good battery life.
Ip68 at just $300 USD is an amazing feature to have.
For performance, it leaves me with no worry at all. I can run 3 apps at the same time while with no problem at all.
All of that really great. Untill there is a few thing I find annoying, WHERE IS AOD?
I remember when I cant unlock the phone at all, even the fingerprint sensor is scanning my finger. Most of the problem I get is the video preview when recording, Its stuttering. but after jan software uptade if im not wrong, the problem goes away.
The thing I hate the most on this device is, somehow the price get lower like $150 USD after 3 month at the time I buy it here in Indonesia. Really SUS Samsung.

What is a Ki score?
Ki is an automatic score based on the specifications and prices of devices. It is calculated using over 200 variables to rank smartphones, tablets and other devices from best to worst.
How do we calculate the Ki?

In this case, to determine the score we evaluate 5 general aspects:

  • Design and screen
  • Hardware and performance
  • Camera
  • Connectivity
  • Battery

Once these 5 factors have been rated, we introduce the price variable. This means that any two devices with the same ratings get a different Ki score for quality vs price.

Even a device objectively worse than another may have a higher Ki score if it has a better price.

Does the Ki score change?

The Ki varies as time goes by. As new devices with better specifications enter the market the Ki score of older devices will go down, always being compensated of their decrease in price.
