I always buy devices based solely on their hardware and specifications when my previous one starts acting up. I'd rather spend money on a new, up to date device than try to fix an old one. Speaking from experience, I don't care much about looks. I care about functionality. But, oh boy... this one has surprised me.

My previous phone was a Ulefone Power Armor 18 Ultra. While it was an absolute brick weighing almost half a kilogram, and my fingers definitely suffered because of it, it had almost no preinstalled bloatware. It also came with such a clean, near stock Android experience that I forgave all of its flaws.

Now I can't say the same about the TCL NxtPaper 70 Pro. What I noticed almost immediately, after about 45 minutes of setting up the phone with my SD card, SIM card, Google account, and everything else, was that it was absolutely packed with preinstalled games, apps, app stores, and other unnecessary software. I was able to uninstall at least 10 games and 8 apps, and I had to disable another 15 apps that couldn't even be uninstalled.

It's rare for me to say this, but I'm already starting to regret my purchase. The battery dropped from 48% to 3% in just one hour of use, and I wasn't doing anything demanding. I was only setting up Google services and the phone itself. No games, no heavy apps, nothing at all.

I can only hope it'll hold up well in everyday use because, so far... it's been a letdown.
