I'm coming from using a Redmi Note 8 with a custom ROM. The only thing I miss is that the system has too much bloatware and telemetry. I had to install the usual trio (Shizuku, Canta, and personalDNSfilter) to have a cleaner overall experience. I often use Chatgpt for some queries, but the AI on this phone is full of telemetry data, so I prefer not to use it. During the debloat process, I was able to disable 102 apps and also had to restrict access to certain URLs due to the telemetry. I know it's commonplace with "budget" phones; I got this one for $170 USD and I think that policy should improve. We're not the European Union, but come on, they're really going overboard with Latin America. The system has several battery-saving options; I let it charge to 85% and then let it drain to 10% or 3%. It's a shame it can't disable Bluetooth or NFC when not in use to prevent battery drain, something it does do when you create a Wi-Fi hotspot and it's not being used. Regarding the specifications, it's practically a Redmi Note 13 Pro 4G/Poco M6 Pro 4G. The main differences are the cameras and charging speed. The Redmi Note 40 uses the IMX 896, not the Lytia 700C they're trying to sell you, and this IMX 896 is generally superior to the Isocell HP3 camera in the 13 Pro 4G. I'm not sure if it surpasses the Poco's 64MP Omnivision camera. In some challenging areas, the IMX 896 exhibits ghosting. Why? I don't know. Overall, it's a good phone for daily use, and it handles some casual gaming (I play on low settings with anti-aliasing at 30 FPS) and maintains it, at least for now with Bloodstrike; I haven't played any other games.
