First, the design is beautiful. The back with the camera module looks quite good, and the black color suits it wonderfully. The screen is gorgeous; I love these curved screens. The colors are great, and it has a 120Hz refresh rate for those who like smoothness. Personally, I don't use it; I prefer 60Hz, but it's there for those who need it. I have the 8/256 version, and I have no problems with the processor; it doesn't overheat. The problem is HyperOS. Currently at version 3.0, it's not very well optimized, and it shows. You'll experience slight stutters and the occasional lag in apps, but that's solely due to HyperOS. You'd expect that after so many years, Xiaomi would have stepped up its game and properly optimized the system. The RAM consumption is quite aggressive, using almost 6.0GB out of the 8.0GB available. But despite that, your apps won't crash, freeze, or anything like that. In games, most of the ones I've tried run smoothly; the most demanding ones clearly aren't made for this phone. The cameras—the main one is quite good—I was expecting much better, but it surprised me, especially the zoom and the quality it maintains. Another drawback is the wide-angle camera; for the phone's price, they could have offered something better. The selfie camera is neither great nor terrible. Video recording is fine; 1080p at 30fps with stabilization is excellent, but it doesn't have 4K stabilization. I don't know why, but 1080p is more than enough. The battery is the best thing about the phone; for basic tasks, it's amazing how long it lasts, even with intensive use and gaming. It's the best I've seen of all the phones I've tested.
The sound is poor; it has almost no bass, the treble is much more prominent. On the plus side, the phone's equalizer lets you adjust it for better sound. Overall, it's a decent phone if you're looking for something balanced and aren't too demanding; it will serve you well.
