User Reviews

  • It Tried

If you're a heavy user, don't go for this phone. It's good for social media though, decent to good photos in good lighting conditions, great speakers and it was loud. After a month of use, you could start feeling it getting slower. The RAM was poorly managed, and hanged a lot once you spend more than 30 minutes using any app in general. The battery drained fast, even with the screen at 20% brightness. It also had screen burn ins that would take hours to recover. The phone was also very light, due to it's all plastic build which also made it fragile. It could handle light games, but try running anything heavy and it will hang and eventually crash the app or the phone itself would crash. To conclude everything, the fact that it had more cons and it had pros made it hard to use the phone, even with restricted use.

I have the global version and have been using this phone for about a week now. After updating it to the latest firmware and OS, it felt even smoother than before. The battery lasted me over a day even with heavy usage, battery life also improved after turning on adaptive battery (to think that this feature actually works). I was able to get over 8 hours of screen on time, compared to the 5 hours before updating. Looking at the performance it was definitely smooth, because of its SD845 chipset, and can handle heavy gaming as well as run apps fluidly. The camera works well in good lighting conditions, but tends to get a bit grainy in low light scenery. It's IR face unlock is what blew my mind, I'm able to unlock this thing even with no light and that IR scanner gives it even more security. The MIUI skin doesn't bother me as it feels close to stock android now. Last but not least, it charges decently fast despite the huge battery, took about 1 hour and 50+ mins to fully charge from 0.

Been using it for over a month now not once did it fail me. I can go a full day or over with heavy use on this device and the charging is quite fast for its huge battery. For the people comparing this phone to higher ends, why. It's a mid range phone for a reason and for it's price it surpassed my expectations. Only downside is the camera, it shoots well in broad daylight, shoots decent to poorly in low light scenarios. Other than the camera, everything from build quality to it's internals are great.

    Pros
    • Big Display
    • Big Battery
    • Stock Android
    • Headphone Jack
    Cons
    • Sub-par Camera
    • Facial Recognition barely works in the Dark
