Honor Magic4 Pro: Flagship Series for 2022

The Honor Magic4 Pro is the latest flagship model from Chinese technology brand Honor, released in February 2022. It stands out from its predecessor, the Honor Magic4 and the Honor Magic4 Pro Ultimate, due to its cutting-edge design, powerful hardware, and improved camera.

Let’s start with design. The Honor Magic4 Pro has a sleek metal body, which gives it a premium look and feel. The display has an OLED screen with a large 6.81-inch size and a resolution of 1312x2848, offering an almost bezel-less viewing experience with a high refresh rate of 120 Hz. In addition, it features a peak brightness of 1000 cd/m2, HDR10+ support, and dual edge display. The usable surface is at 92.6%, making it the perfect device to take full advantage of any multimedia content. Moreover, the phone comes with a leather version that weighs 209 grams.

Moving on to the hardware, the Honor Magic4 Pro is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen1 processor with a 4nm process, paired with 8 or 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256/512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. This top-of-the-line configuration runs smoothly and effortlessly, and is capable of achieving an AnTuTu score of 1003900. Security is also taken care of thanks to its Fingerprint Display.

The camera setup consists of a quadruple camera, including a standard Sony IMX766 50.0Mpx lens with f/1.9 and a 1.000 pixel size CMOS, along with a wide angle + macro 50.0Mpx lens with f/2.2, and a telephoto + portrait Omnivision OV64B 64.0Mpx lens with f/2.0, plus a 3D ToF sensor with 0.3Mpx. That's not all; the front camera has a 12.0Mpx f/2.4 lens, as well as an ultra-wide FOV 100° video 4K, and a secondary ToF 3D lens with a 7P FOV 122° sensor size 1/2.5". It offers optical stabilization (OIS), 4K video recording, and zoom up to 3.5x and digital zoom at 100x.

Finally, the connectivity features include Bluetooth 5.2, dual SIM, USB Host 3.0, NFC, WiFi 6 (802.11ax), GPS (L1+L5) and infrared. Battery-wise, the Honor Magic4 Pro counts with a 4600mAh battery and fast charge at 100.0W, plus wireless charging.

The Honor Magic4 Pro is truly a powerhouse in the flagship series. With its striking design and robust performance, it is an ideal choice for tech lovers who are looking for a phone that offers the latest in both style and performance.

  • MY FAVOURITE PHONE TO DATE

I upgraded from my Xiaomi 11T Pro to this, i miss my Xiaomi which was a great phone but this Magic 4 Pro is on a whole new level. Xiaomi was 9/10 , this is 10/10.... The only downside is its hard to get a Tempered glass screen protector for it that fits well.

  • Nice camera

Wide-angle, macro and main camera are excellent!
    Telephoto is ok.
    Good quality selfie pictures.

At the times geo-tagging is quite inaccurate for photos, it may be false by kilometers in distance.

Recording video is very bad, quality of image gets blurry/pixelated. But the sound recording is the worst.
Recording audio sounds very "pixelated" and sounds coming from 30 meters further are almost inaudible in video, even if you can clearly hear them by yourself while recording.

Battery was fine in the first couple of weeks, but afterwards battery seem to drain very quick during the day.
I may have 30-50% battery left after the day, even if I do not use the phone a lot, and neither I should have apps running too much in the background.
Also, the phone shows the battery usage by applications very inaccurately, or either it doesnt show it at all.

Display of the phone is good.
Soundquality during calls is good, speakers are just fine.

Overall, the phone is good for taking pictures, but other than that I am not that satisfied for this being +1000eur phone.
Been using it for almost 3 months now.

What is a Ki score?
Ki is an automatic score based on the specifications and prices of devices. It is calculated using over 200 variables to rank smartphones, tablets and other devices from best to worst.
How do we calculate the Ki?

In this case, to determine the score we evaluate 5 general aspects:

  • Design and screen
  • Hardware and performance
  • Camera
  • Connectivity
  • Battery

Once these 5 factors have been rated, we introduce the price variable. This means that any two devices with the same ratings get a different Ki score for quality vs price.

Even a device objectively worse than another may have a higher Ki score if it has a better price.

Does the Ki score change?

The Ki varies as time goes by. As new devices with better specifications enter the market the Ki score of older devices will go down, always being compensated of their decrease in price.
