- Still a good deal
I used it for 1 year.
The battery duration was okay, I made it to the night with 10%-20% of remaining battery with normal daily use. Gave me about 3 or 4 hours of watching videos, and little less of 2 hours of gaming.
Sadly, it wasn't as resistant to drops as other Xiaomi phones are, as in the first ever drop, the glass in front of the camera broke, and the screen got scratched pretty quickly.
Good performance for what it is, daily use super smooth, never crashed in that aspect. It did crash once or twice while playing games.
It does have some overheating problems, but it was not as bad as with other phones.
At its current price, now that it has dropped to about half its original price, it is still a good deal.Pros- Performance

1 year review for the poco m5s, 128gb / 6gb ram, android 13, miui 14
cons:
-the biggest negative point IMO is that all videos you play on the phone have this 'filter' on them, its because of cheap HW OVERLAY software.
-You can disable it on dev options, but it resets on startup.
-developer options turn off by themselves on each startup, that sucks
-there are way too many 'recommendations' an ´ads´
-the THEMES app keeps asking you for permissions, use it and block it.
-useless xiaomi apps you cant uninstall
-the notification center and the power-down menu do NOT show the blurred BG, instead it shows an ugly solid gray.
-I've noticed a couple of visual glitches upon unblocking your screen, the notification center, and other places, they have happened 10 times max in 1 year times. a little concerning at first but it only lasts a fraction of a second and is a very rare occurrence
-when there's a drop-in notification and you try to open the notification center, it instead opens the app in a Floating Window.
-there's something slightly off with the touchscreen inputs. rarely, it reads diagonal & vertical inputs as an horizontal swipes.
-the virtual proximity sensor is absolute ASS.
-the first few week it would get hot during regular use, but then nothing after that. heavy games will get it hot and bothered, so keep in mind if you live in a oven.
pros:
-the screen can get BRIGHT holy crap, even at noon.
-the camera is great, but its UI is too bloated, and the 64mp mode isn't that good.
-the speaker is pretty DAMM good, the top speaker sounds noticeably weaker than the bottom one (workplace is full of flour, so it might be grime stuck in it) either way, quality of sound is pretty decent.
-xiaomi said it is getting the hyperOS 2 update sometime in 2025, but that was a while ago.
despite the cons, I'm pretty happy with it, its cheap, but is WAY better than anything else i found in its price range.- 9.5

The design is ok , the camera is good , when taking pictures on the ultra wide camera the photo is very noisy, battery is big, the charging is fast but ,when charging with fast charging the phone will some how reach high temperature (40c°-45c°), in some games the phone will not lag at all but in some other games it lags, like carx street and carx drift3
