  • After more or less a year of usage, it's a good phone for the price. Rear camera and thermals when gaming could be better.

For $140-$180, This phone is enough for those who want a decent phone with a 120Hz display.

The only reason as to why I bought this phone was to play rhythm games on high refresh rate, and it delivers. The display's colors were quite pleasing as I didn't expect much from a 120Hz panel from a budget phone. Don't expect too much though, it's brightness isn't all that impressive as it's not too visible outdoors and it still doesn't beat an AMOLED panel.

The battery performance was okay, it wasn't really obvious that it had 5000mAh of capacity but if you'd run out of juice, it charges within an hour or less.

The Realme Narzo 50 4G has sufficient power to handle demanding games such as PUBG Mobile, Call of Duty: Mobile and a little of Genshin Impact (if you set the graphical quality to the low/lowest). However, it suffers to hold up framerates when it heats up and it does especially that on areas with high ambient temperature or when the game gets into demanding situations due to the chipset being a MediaTek Helio series, known for thermal throttling.

From what I've noticed, it also suffers when you have a lot of applications open. I do not know the reason as to why, but I have read that this phone has terrible RAM management. So when gaming, try to minimize the amount of applications open.

The main rear camera was lackluster even though the sensor was a 50MP Samsung S5KJN1, probably due to how the software handles the post-processing. It's other sensors couldn't help either since they were just as bad or even worse. My sibling's Realme 5 Pro could even output much better photos even it had an objectively worse sensor.

The selfie camera despite it not being the highlight of the phone surprisingly performed alright, if not decently good enough for the price.

Realme UI is good, I don't really care about the UI/UX of the phone.

I encountered an issue where it restarted itself a few times. It got fixed eventually, but please keep it in mind.

    What is a Ki score?
Ki is an automatic score based on the specifications and prices of devices. It is calculated using over 200 variables to rank smartphones, tablets and other devices from best to worst.
How do we calculate the Ki?

In this case, to determine the score we evaluate 5 general aspects:

    • Design and screen
    • Hardware and performance
    • Camera
    • Connectivity
    • Battery

Once these 5 factors have been rated, we introduce the price variable. This means that any two devices with the same ratings get a different Ki score for quality vs price.

Even a device objectively worse than another may have a higher Ki score if it has a better price.

    Does the Ki score change?

The Ki varies as time goes by. As new devices with better specifications enter the market the Ki score of older devices will go down, always being compensated of their decrease in price.
