It could have been so much more than it actually is!

Motorola presented this device as a top-of-the-line device at the time. In terms of internal hardware, the screen is really good, the construction is of good quality (although it scratches easily on the hinge), but it has major problems. First, the cameras are terrible for its level and at night, so I'd better not even comment on it. Second, the system is poorly optimized, like my previous Nothing Phone 1, which is much weaker in terms of hardware, but much more fluid in everyday use and faster. Even though it's an 8+ Gen 1 with LPDDR5 memory and UFS 3.1, there's nothing inside to justify it not being fluid. The external screen is very interesting and a great success, but the interface experience ruins all the pleasure of using it. Motorola messed up by throwing random software on the device. HelloUI promised a lot and delivered even less.

    Pros
    • Design
    • Screen quality (colors and brightness)
    • Robust construction
    • External screen
    • 165hz on the main screen and 144hz on the external screen
    • Performance (but only in the main application)
    Cons
    • Terrible interface that ruins the whole experience
    • Cameras too weak for the price and level
    • It scratches very easily even with great care
    • Battery management could be better
    • Battery size is negligible (less than 4000)
    • Slow charging even on small battery

    Wouldn't buy again

After 8 days of use, the screen cracked into 4 lines. Out of nowhere, a black spot appeared near the folding part of the internal screen. Soon after, the crack appeared near the folding part. Within minutes, the same cracked screen segment above cracked as well. After a few hours, when I used the phone again (when I left work), the black spot occupied 40% of the screen with these two cracks on the screen (at that moment, I took photos and videos). 1 minute later, another crack appeared on the lower screen segment near the part where the Flip folds. About 1 minute later, another crack appeared on the lower segment (there were 2 cracks on each screen segment). I went to Motorola support and they reported a loss of warranty due to misuse (damage from impact or pressure on the screen). I asked if they could evaluate the impact injury in more detail and they said that the report is standard and cannot be changed. I requested a reanalysis and I am waiting. The phone does not have any damage, scratches or scuffs anywhere on the phone. It did not fall from any height and nothing that could cause any injury. For this reason, I requested a better analysis to at least include in the report that there are no signs of a fall. How can a cell phone be used for 8 days (counting from the date of arrival and not from the actual use) if there are no scratches on the cell phone or on the acrylic case that came with it? How could the glass have cracked in 4 horizontal lines (2 in each segment of the screen)? I agree that this situation is atypical, so I expected more questions from them to help understand the causes and I didn't get them. Just a standard refusal and after so much insistence they will reanalyze. They didn't want to call a technician to show photos and videos that I took during the process and gather more information.

I am absolutely sure that this cell phone did not fall from any height (it did not suffer any impact), it was not sat on, and it was not pressed on the screen. The support team claimed that the screen is weaker than normal, so it may have been subjected to pressure that was above what is bearable. What pressure?

The team is good but can improve

On a day-to-day basis, it behaves excellently, it is very comfortable. Versatile, it does not leave me stranded in anything, everything is optimal, but it should improve a lot in audio and also the battery is fair, but a little more if the perfect design was better, but they should give a better figure for the folds, the screen interface is good but in terms of apps it should improve more because of Facebook and Youtube music there are some Bugs

    Pros
    • very good screen
    • Very complete software
    • Convenience in use of pegable
    • High performance
    Cons
    • Improve audio
    • More resistance in folds
    • More battery sections by software

What is a Ki score?
Ki is an automatic score based on the specifications and prices of devices. It is calculated using over 200 variables to rank smartphones, tablets and other devices from best to worst.
How do we calculate the Ki?

In this case, to determine the score we evaluate 5 general aspects:

  • Design and screen
  • Hardware and performance
  • Camera
  • Connectivity
  • Battery

Once these 5 factors have been rated, we introduce the price variable. This means that any two devices with the same ratings get a different Ki score for quality vs price.

Even a device objectively worse than another may have a higher Ki score if it has a better price.

Does the Ki score change?

The Ki varies as time goes by. As new devices with better specifications enter the market the Ki score of older devices will go down, always being compensated of their decrease in price.
