note, my device has been rooted with Magisk
BATTERY
the battery life of this phone is very good, even using QI sharing to charge my galaxy watch/buds, i got 42h out of it, even after using a cable to charge my wife's S10 5G from 0% to 100% overnight
when your battery is drained, you have a 15s shuts down timer
DURABILITY
there is a metal ring around the screen 2mm above the display, this reduces the chance of a face down drop breaking the screen
there are bumpers on each corner, this is like a shock absorber to stop structural warping when dropped
much of the internal space structural reinforcement
CAMERA
the camera sucks, at night, no OIS, video is locked to 30FPS
PERFORMANCE
game performance is similar to a galaxy S9
ARK (medium preset, full resolution) 20-30FPS
Xplane 11 (medium graphics, AA off) 20-40FPS
SOFTWARE
uses google apps for almost everything
YouTube is not deletable (i use YT Vanced, it blocks ads/skips sponsors)
this device has commie spyware
battery life: the device lasted 36 hours in my heavy usage benchmark
in addition, it lasted 81 hours in my everyday use benchmark
i can charge my wife's iPhone from 5% to 100% and still have over 80%
weight: this thing is HEAVY so dont expect a light phone, it can even be used as a means of self defense if the need arises
design: i like the thickness as it adds to the structural integrity making it resistant to bending, bezels allow you to hold the phone without resorting to a "claw grip" but the fingerprint sensor should be on the back
hardware: the MediaTek Helio P23 is an ok midrange CPU, it handles everyday tasks like web browsing and social media without issue, 1080p youtube streaming can become stuttery though
the Mali-G71 MP2 can run GTA San Andreas, with frame drops/glitches, but it runs PUBG without too many issues
the ugly:
it uses a hybrid sim tray, so you cant use an SD card and 2 sim cards at the same time
no 3G/4G 850mhz or 4G 700mhz
no headphone jack
battery life: the device lasted only 2 hours in my heavy usage benchmark
in addition, it lasted 9 hours in my everyday use benchmark
weight: this device is very light and most of the time you probably wont even realize you are carrying it
design: i really wish the device was thicker and had bezels, i need to hold the device with a "claw grip" to avoid touching the screen by mistake
hardware: the Exynos 9820 CPU is seriously powerful, even in power saving mode with the CPU speed limited to 70%, the device doesnt lag or stutter in my tests
the Mali-G76 MP12 has no problem running games like ARK or PUBG, even with the graphics maxed out
wireless reverse charging would be useful if the battery had enough capacity to actually run the phone for a whole day
the ugly: no dual sim or expandable memory (good luck when your phone breaks)
doesnt come with a USB cable out of the box (only a type-C to type-C cable)
battery capacity is too low (really needs at least 10,000mah)
battery life: the device lasted 29 hours in my heavy usage benchmark.
in addition, it lasted 61 hours in my everyday use benchmark.
weight: this thing is HEAVY so dont expect a light phone, oh and be sure your pants fit properly when carrying it in your pocket or else you may have an embarassing problem.
design: i really like the thickness of the device as it adds to the structural integrity making it resistant to bending, the unique shape and metal finish really makes the device a great conversation starter.
hardware: the MT6750T is not bad but really cant compete with much.
the Mali-T860 MP2 GPU really struggles to run games like GTA san andreas and when it doesnt crash, it keeps glitching out and artifacting.
the ugly: it uses a micro USB connector that is a few mm longer, so a standard cable wont fit.
(similar to the headphone jack on the original iPhone)
it uses one of those stupid hybrid sim trays so you cant use a memory card and 2 sim cards at the same time.
this device survived a car accident better than i did
i got hit by a car as a cyclist 3 months ago and despite the phone taking most of the impact, it is completely undamaged
battery life is pretty good, the device lasted 12 hours of my heavy use benchmark
connectivity is very good, no issues with phone signal in australia on this phone, GPS works great, wifi signal is also above average
performance is fine for everyday usage, the device does slow down a lot when the battery falls below 30% and the bloatware slows things down a fair bit too, dont expect to play 3D games on it at max settings though as it can barely run GTA san andreas
rear and front facing cameras are really good quality even in low light conditions, and the front facing flash is the icing on the cake
the rear camera can shoot both 4K footage and slow motion footage in 720p at 240fps
the battery can be charged from dead to 70% in less than 2 hours with the included fast charger (included in AUS)
