  • A valiant upgrade over the Edge 2024

The phone's design is nice. The back is nice and bears no risk of breaking. The phone is fast enough for all tasks. When you reduce the animation speeds, it's very quick. The 120hz feels fast and smooth. The battery is the silent champ though.

My battery consistenly lasts two days. I'm an extremely heavy user and the quick-charging is a blessing. Out of the box, however, Moto reduces it. Just optimize charging and enable boost charging to get those good speeds. The proprietary charger is required for 67-68W charging but I routinely get 54W without the proprietary charger.

The cameras are very good. The color science is the same as the 2024 version but different from Xiaomi, my previous brand of choice.

The coverage is a real winner. These Edge phones cover all the 4G bands and have a lot of the 5G bands as well. Works extremely well in my very restrictive office.

All in all, the Edge 2025 is a fantastic phone. I picked it up for free from T-Mobile and for that price, it is absolutely worth it for most people.

What is a Ki score?
Ki is an automatic score based on the specifications and prices of devices. It is calculated using over 200 variables to rank smartphones, tablets and other devices from best to worst.
How do we calculate the Ki?

In this case, to determine the score we evaluate 5 general aspects:

  • Design and screen
  • Hardware and performance
  • Camera
  • Connectivity
  • Battery

Once these 5 factors have been rated, we introduce the price variable. This means that any two devices with the same ratings get a different Ki score for quality vs price.

Even a device objectively worse than another may have a higher Ki score if it has a better price.

Does the Ki score change?

The Ki varies as time goes by. As new devices with better specifications enter the market the Ki score of older devices will go down, always being compensated of their decrease in price.
