Description
The realme 9 is the latest mid-range mobile device from realme. It is the latest addition to the realme family, which includes the popular realme 9i, realme 9 Pro, realme 9 Pro+, realme 9 5G and the realme 9 5G Speed Edition as well as the brand new realme 9i 5G. The device is expected to be released in May 2022.
The realme 9 brings a number of features that make it stand out from other mid-range devices in its range. The device features a 6.40-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080x2400 (FHD+), a refresh rate of 90 Hz and a contrast ratio of 400000:1. In addition, it has a brightness of 430 cd/m² (typ). Audio is provided by the Hi-Res Audio Decoder Chip WCD9370.
In terms of materials, the device is made of plastic and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5, offering a usable surface of 83.6%. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 (SM6225) (6nm) processor and can come with either 6GB or 8GB LPDDR4X RAM, plus 128GB UFS Storage 2.2 for internal storage. AnTuTu (v9) gives a score of 216850. Security is enhanced by the Fingerprint Display.
For photography, the realme 9 comes with a triple camera setup consisting of a standard lens (Samsung HM6, 108.0Mpx, f/1.75, ISOCELL), a wide-angle lens (Omnivision OV08D10, 8.0Mpx, f/2.2) and a macro lens (GalaxyCore GC02M1, 2.0Mpx, f/2.4). It also features a 6P lens, an ultra wide-angle lens 5P FOV 120° and a macro lens 3P up to 4cm. For selfies, it has a Sony IMX471 Exmor RS, 16.0Mpx, f/2.45 and a 5P lens with 10X digital zoom.
In terms of connectivity, the device supports Bluetooth 5.1 as well as dual SIM and an audio jack. The battery of the realme 9 has a capacity of 5000mAh and comes with a fast charge at 33.0W, as well as reverse charging.
Overall, the realme 9 is a great choice for people looking for a mid-range device. It offers a good combination of features and specs, including a powerful processor, plenty of RAM, plenty of storage and a variety of camera features. I bought it new in a cell phone store in Guayaquil - Ecuador on February 19, 2025. I was surprised that I received updates up to Android 14, I honestly expected up to Android 13. Since this cell phone was launched in May 2022. Its size is very comfortable in the hand since it is 6.4 ". Its Amoled screen is very good for viewing multimedia content and very comfortable to the eye since it is not a very big cell phone and it is a delight to watch videos since it has 411 ppi (very high density). Its 108 Mpx HM6 main camera from Samsung is on par with some high mid-range phones from the competition, this being a mid-range phone. Its 8 Mpx OV08D10 wide-angle lens from Omnivision is neither good nor bad but it is appreciated that they put it since they did not put it in the Realme 10. Its 2 Mpx GalaxyCore GC02M1 macro lens is average. It has a slight optical stabilization but I would have I liked that it had Ultra Stable Video. Its selfie camera is a Sony IMX471 that comes in almost all Realme mid-range and above and its good quality is appreciated since competing phones with almost the same price such as Xiaomi, Samsung and other brands put 13 Mpx sensors of not as good quality. What it did lack was its processor since the Snapdragon 680 is not that powerful for the price it was launched at. In the selfie camera, the photos are good and it is appreciated that it has a Sony sensor. It has a good battery life of 5000 mAh and with its Amoled screen you can save more battery by putting it in dark mode. It comes with a 33-watt charger. This phone is more for viewing multimedia content, taking very good photos and for use on social networks. I do not recommend it for games because the processor falls short, that is its weak point.But otherwise, it's good. I'm satisfied with the Realme brand since its customization layer isn't as heavy and it saves more battery life. I hope this review has helped you.
