Design & Materials

The Xiaomi Redmi A5 boasts a sleek and modern design, with a large 6.88-inch LCD IPS screen that offers crisp and vibrant visuals. The resolution of 720x1640 (HD+) ensures a clear and sharp display, while the high refresh rate of 120 Hz provides smooth and fluid scrolling. With a brightness of 450 cd/m² and a contrast ratio of 1500:1, the Redmi A5 delivers an immersive viewing experience for all your multimedia needs.

In terms of audio, the Redmi A5 comes equipped with stereo speakers and DTS/DTS X technology, providing rich and immersive sound quality for your music and videos. The use of plastic materials helps keep the device lightweight and durable, making it easy to handle and resistant to everyday wear and tear. The usable surface of 85.1% gives users ample screen real estate to navigate and interact with their device seamlessly.

Hardware

Under the hood, the Xiaomi Redmi A5 is powered by the Unisoc Tiger T615 (T7250) processor, built on a 12nm architecture for efficient performance. With 4GB or 3GB of LPDDR4X RAM, users can expect smooth multitasking and seamless app performance. Storage options include 128GB or 64GB of eMMC 5.1 storage, with the option to expand via external storage for additional space. The AnTuTu benchmark score of 308681 showcases the Redmi A5's impressive performance capabilities, handling demanding tasks with ease.

For security and convenience, the Redmi A5 features a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, allowing users to unlock their device quickly and securely. This added layer of protection ensures that your personal data remains safe and secure at all times.

Camera

The Xiaomi Redmi A5 comes equipped with a dual camera setup, featuring a 32.0MP standard lens with an f/2.0 aperture and ISOCELL technology for sharp and detailed photos. In addition, there is a 0.3MP secondary lens for depth sensing and portrait mode capabilities. The front-facing selfie camera boasts an 8.0MP lens with an f/2.0 aperture, perfect for capturing high-quality self-portraits and video calls.

Connectivity

In terms of connectivity, the Xiaomi Redmi A5 supports Bluetooth 5.2 for fast and reliable wireless connections, dual SIM functionality for added flexibility, an audio jack for wired headphone use, and an infrared port for remote control capabilities. These features ensure that users can stay connected and entertained wherever they go.

Battery

One of the standout features of the Xiaomi Redmi A5 is its massive 5200mAh battery, which provides all-day usage without the need for frequent recharging. With fast charging support of 18.0W, users can quickly top up their device and get back to using it in no time. This long-lasting battery life is perfect for users who are constantly on the go and need a device that can keep up with their busy lifestyle.

Summary

Overall, the Xiaomi Redmi A5 offers a compelling package for budget-conscious consumers looking for a reliable and feature-packed smartphone. The pros of the device include its impressive battery life, powerful performance, and affordable price point. However, some may find the design to be lacking in premium materials and the absence of 5G connectivity may be a drawback for those seeking faster network speeds. Nonetheless, the Xiaomi Redmi A5 stands out as a solid choice for users who prioritize value and functionality in their smartphone experience.

What is a Ki score?
Ki is an automatic score based on the specifications and prices of devices. It is calculated using over 200 variables to rank smartphones, tablets and other devices from best to worst.
How do we calculate the Ki?

In this case, to determine the score we evaluate 5 general aspects:

  • Design and screen
  • Hardware and performance
  • Camera
  • Connectivity
  • Battery

Once these 5 factors have been rated, we introduce the price variable. This means that any two devices with the same ratings get a different Ki score for quality vs price.

Even a device objectively worse than another may have a higher Ki score if it has a better price.

Does the Ki score change?

The Ki varies as time goes by. As new devices with better specifications enter the market the Ki score of older devices will go down, always being compensated of their decrease in price.
