Introducing the Oppo Reno8: The Mid-Range Phone That Packs a Punch

The mobile market can be ruthless and competition is fierce. Year after year, top-of-the-line phones are released with higher specs and more features in an attempt to edge out the competition. But what about the mid-range phones? Those looking for a great phone without blowing their budget can find what they need in the Oppo Reno8.

The Oppo Reno8 is an entry-level mid-range smartphone manufactured by Chinese brand, Oppo. It was released in May 2022, joining four other models in the same series as Oppo’s latest offering. These include the Oppo Reno8 Pro, Oppo Reno8 Pro+, Oppo Reno8 Lite 5G, and Oppo Reno8 4G.

The design of the Reno8 follows suit of Oppo’s other models with a sleek design and a glass and polycarbonate body. Its 6.43-inch OLED screen has a resolution of 1080x2400 (FHD+) and a refresh rate of 90Hz along with a 430 cd/m² typical brightness and HDR10+ support. With a usable surface of 83.5%, the Oppo Reno8 screen occupies almost the entire front of the device.

Under the hood of the Oppo Reno8 lies a MediaTek Dimensity 1300 processor that is based on a 6nm process. It is available in two RAM and storage configurations: 8GB RAM and 128GB storage and 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. This phone has been benchmarked to receive a score of 699576 on AnTuTu (v9) and also features a Fingerprint Display for added security. To keep things cool, the Oppo Reno8 comes with a built-in cooling system.

In terms of photography, the Reno8’s triple camera setup includes a 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor with an f/1.7 aperture, an 8MP OmniVision OV08D10 ultra wide-angle lens with an f/2.2 aperture, and a 2MP macro lens with an f/2.4 aperture. For selfie lovers, the Reno8 offers a 32MP Sony IMX709 sensor with an f/2.4 aperture. The Reno8 is also capable of recording videos up to 4K quality.

The Oppo Reno8 connects to the world through the latest Bluetooth 5.3 technology, dual SIM slots, NFC, WiFi 6 (802.11ax) and GPS (L1+L5). All of these connections work together to deliver a smooth and efficient user experience. As for battery life, the Oppo Reno8 comes with a generous 4500mAh capacity that supports fast charging at 80W.

Overall, the Oppo Reno8 is a great option for those who want a no-nonsense mid-range phone without having to break the bank. This phone offers powerful specs and reliable features at an attractive price point. And although there are many smartphones out there, this one stands out due to its efficient performance, great design, and impressive camera capabilities. The Oppo Reno8 looks set to be a solid choice for those looking for a well-balanced mid-range experience.

This phone made me like OPPO, very good optimization, an almost complete cell phone, it is missing a few things

Almost complete, decent camera for the price, it doesn't heat up, in games everything ran well, the interface was very well optimized, almost no bugs or lags, slim design that was a little slippery, good screen. The only things it lacks is that the battery is larger, it doesn't last long, stereo audio, headphone jack (although almost none of them come with it) and a little expensive.

DROP RESISTANT DEVICE AND OUTSTANDING BATTERY!

With the updates it has improved a lot. In 10 months of intensive use I think it stands out because it is a device that is very resistant to falls, the battery with the 80w charge. It's very fast!... The MediaTek Dimensity 1300 processor wins with updates and heats up less than the Snapdragon even though they are also slower than the Snapdragon. As a negative, I would say that the GPS seems not to be very optimized, because sometimes it slows down or suffers from lag, but in general it complies. In short, it is a good device between €300-400

    What is a Ki score?
Ki is an automatic score based on the specifications and prices of devices. It is calculated using over 200 variables to rank smartphones, tablets and other devices from best to worst.
How do we calculate the Ki?

In this case, to determine the score we evaluate 5 general aspects:

    • Design and screen
    • Hardware and performance
    • Camera
    • Connectivity
    • Battery

Once these 5 factors have been rated, we introduce the price variable. This means that any two devices with the same ratings get a different Ki score for quality vs price.

Even a device objectively worse than another may have a higher Ki score if it has a better price.

    Does the Ki score change?

The Ki varies as time goes by. As new devices with better specifications enter the market the Ki score of older devices will go down, always being compensated of their decrease in price.
