Introducing the Google Pixel 7: A High-End Smartphone for a Great Experience
Google has unveiled its latest flagship smartphone, the Pixel 7, and it’s sure to set a new bar for quality smartphone experiences. The Google Pixel 7 comes with some incredible specs, a sleek all-metal design, and a user experience that’s backed by Google’s own Tensor 2 processor – creating a powerful and smooth experience.
The Pixel 7 isn't just another smartphone on the block either. It comes with one of the highest screen-to-body ratio you'll find, an impressive 6.3 inch OLED Full HD+ display with a refresh rate of 90Hz, HDR10+, and optical Gorilla Glass Victus for protection.
Audio is attended to as well with Stereo speakers, and a noise cancellation microphone. Other features such as dual camera setup (50MP Samsung GN1 primary lens and 12MP Sony IMX381 wide angle lens) with OIS, 8x digital zoom and 4K video recording, along with a 10.8MP selfie camera make the Google Pixel 7 an incredibly capable device.
Under the hood, the Google Pixel 7 houses the new Google Tensor 2 CPU, with 8GB of RAM, 128/256GB UFS 3.1 storage at your disposal and an Antutu score of 768335 - rivaling some of the more popular phones in the market. Security wise, it comes with a fingerprint reader embedded in the display – allowing you to unlock your device quickly and conveniently. And with its 30W fast charging – topping up the Pixel 7’s 4355mAh battery won’t be a hassle either.
The Pixel 7 also has plenty of other features such as wireless charging and reverse charging, Bluetooth 5.2, dual SIM, USB Host 3.0, NFC and WiFi 6 (802.11ax). All these things come together to make the Pixel 7 a great device.
There are some downsides to the Pixel 7 too, however. Firstly, it does not feature a headphone jack – something that may be an issue for some users. Secondly, its battery life could be better – though it's still large enough to last you a day on a single charge. Lastly, the Google Pixel 7 Pro – the more expensive variant of this device – may offer users more features than they need while costing more than they are willing to pay.
Overall, the Google Pixel 7 is an excellent high-end smartphone. It offers a great performance, has plenty of features, and the user experience is top notch. With its attractive design, premium materials and a great display – the Pixel 7 will no doubt become a popular choice for those looking for a great device at an affordable price. It will be released in October 2022 and is sure to become a phone that will make heads turn.

User reviews about the Google Pixel 7
User score
Let me sum it up for you

- Good but could have been better
I've bought this phone before the launch of the Pixel 8, and got it for a quite good deal. The phone overall feels great in hand, the cameras are superb for both photo and video, updates are plenty and the performance hasn't really changed in the last 2 1/2 years of ownership.
There are a few cons though, especially when talking about thermals. It will sometimes overheat when doing absolutely nothing, or when changing the wallpaper. In the summer is when the overheating really hinders the experience; I've had a few occasions when the GPS navigation wouldn't work whatsoever because the phone was "too warm". And the battery isn't holding that much fuel but that's expected. Another weird issue is that sometimes it can't quite decide if it should play music and videos from both speakers or only the bottom-firing speaker.
The worst one for me is the features set: Now Playing isn't super useful in Romania, most of the AI functions aren't available even if the phone is capable of running them (for example, AI Wallpapers work if you manually install the app), and then the customisation side is lackluster compared to Samsung, Xiaomi, etc.
Over all, it's still quite a good phone for my use case, though I would probably look for another option in the future from another manufacturer.Pros- Nice, compact size
- Good quality display with vivid colours
- Great camera setup, support for 4k@60fps
- Plenty of major updates and security updates
Cons- Poor thermal throttling
- Average charging speed
- Many features unavailable outside the US
- Lackluster customisation features
